The guys responsible for bringing Retrospec bikes into SouthAfrica handed a few saddles to us last year and said we could “go wild”. We finally got a gap in our schedule to complete them. A bit of experimenting happened but the results were quite rad. Unfortunately I didn’t take any good pics before handing themContinue reading “Saddle #039 #040 #041”

Saddle #038
Pieter requested a saddle with flames and perforations for his 80’s Cannondale restoration. He was initially thinking of red leather but ended up going with tan to accent his black frame.
Saddle #037
Tan brown restoration for Woodstock Cycleworks.
Saddle #036
We were thrilled to be asked by Atang Tshikare of Zabalazaa fame to do a saddle for an exhibition bike. His bikes were exhibited at an amazing show curated by Southern Guild held at The Woodstock Foundry called Heavy Metal. The old saddle was just about dead but some refoaming, metal polishing and leather brought it back to life.
Saddle #035
We recovered this saddle for Emile at Starling & Hero. It made it’s way onto a beautiful Viner Pista restoration.
Saddle #034
A pretty saddle for a butterfly themed bike for Ubuntu Bikes
Saddle #033
Another cruiser saddle for a Starling & Hero bike build, paired nicely with Jason from Iliad’s handlebar work.
Saddle #032
As simple as the finished product looks it’s hard to explain just how hard this saddle was to complete. Old saddles are a nightmare with all the old rivets and springs and steel. Thankfully Carin and Andrew were very patient. After all the effort this might just be the most rewarding saddle we’ve done.

We met Rizqua at the Cape Town Urban Bicycle Expo. Seems this tassle thing is quite admired. Thanks for the lovely photo’s Riz.B Photography. Continue reading “Handlebars #031”
Saddle #030
This one happend real quick for Starling & Hero. So quick we didn’t even manage to get a photo of the finished product. Emile was building a birthday present bike and wnated a leather saddle to match the leather grips from Jason at Iliad. The picture was taken before the natural nude cowhide was dyed. She must’ve beenContinue reading “Saddle #030”
